Lalak Jan (1967-1999)
is officially known as Havaldaar Lalak Jan Shaheed Nishan-i-Haider. He was born in Yasin, District Ghizer, in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. After schooling he joined the Pakistan army and was promoted to the rank of Havaladaar. As a junior officer of the Northern Light Infantry, he was one of those many who fought from the forefront to thwart heavy Indian attacks, in the Kargil *War in 1999. He volunteered himself to be deployed on the front positions and driven back many aggressive ventures by the Indian army.

Nazir Sabir
| Nazir Sabir is a Gilgit climber. He was born in Ramanji a small hamlet in Chiporsun, upper Hunza known as Gojal. He is the only Gilgit Person to have climbed Mount Everest and four of the five 8000m peaks in Pakistan. He has also climbed the world? second highest peak K2 in 1981, Gasherbrum II and Broad Peak in 1982. Despite his tour operator business Nazir Sabir has been remained member of the Northern Areas Legislative Council and Education Advisor of the administration of the Northern Areas of Pakistan. After the abolution of the Hunza State in 1974, for the first time he defeated the last Mir of Hunza? son Ghanzanfer Ali Khan. |

Faquir Muhammad
Faquir Muhammad Hunzai is a famous religious scholar, writer, translator, researcher, and man of letters of the Northern Areas of Pakistan.
He was born in Shinaki, the lower part of Hunza. After his early education in his native village he went to the Karachi University, where he did three M.A.s, in philosophy, Arabic and Persian languages and literatures. He received a PhD degree in Islamic Studies from the McGill University, Montreal, Canada. For a short period he served as a lecturer in Arabic and Persian at Government Degree College, Gilgit, Pakistan. At present he is serving as a Research Associate at The Institute of Ismaili Studies, in London, United Kingdom. He has
translated, al-Risalah al-Durriyyah, of the famous Fatimid thinker, Hamid al-Din Kirmani for the first time into the English language.
According to The Institute of Ismaili Studies, ?is publications include The Shimmering Light -An Anthology of Ismaili Poetry (London, 1996), a new edition and English translation of the ?ushayish wa Rahdyish printed as Nasir Khusraw: Knowledge and Liberation (London, 1998), The Holy Ahl al-Bayt in the Prophetic Traditions (Karachi, forthcoming), as well as contributions to the Encyclopaedia Iranica and other publications. He has also translated from Urdu and Burushaski into English, more than 50 works, including The Book of Healing and A Thousand Wisdoms of ?llamah Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai whose main focus is esoteric Ismailism.
Presently he is working on translations of Wajh-i Din and the Diwan of Nasir Khusraw.
Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai
Dr. Allamah Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai is a writer , known for his work on the Burushaski language.Professor Dr. A llama Nasir uddin Nasir Hunzai was born on 15th May 1917 in Hyderabad Hunza northern areas of Pakistan. The place was a far flung and isolated area than offer very little opportunities for education. His formal learning is therefore spread over a period of ten months only. During which he completed greatly and poor together. A sufi poet of many languages, he is the author of more than hundred books/booklets on spirituality. However been a natural lover of knowledge having an intense and interested internal yearning, to acquire and learn to continue, learning to a discipline, self study.He also made best of the experience and observation of his life to satisfy his quest.
He also started to teach people formally and informally.More ever apart from the first girls school he also founded the first volunteer core in Hyderabad Hunza which for the first time introduced the regular honorary service in northern areas.
This invocation in the given social and political context was an act of extraordinary courage. On 8th April 1939 he was recruited in Gilgit scout. After four years he resigned from Gilgit scout and joined army on 5th October 1943. During this period his literally activities continued. After he resigns from army in 1946 he completely devoted himself for the research on spiritual science, spiritual wisdom and Burashaski language.
Farman Ali
Farman Ali, known as Farman Sab, is a senior journalist, editor and has remained a political worker as well. He lives in Islamabad, working as the news editor of Dawn, the most prestigious English language daily newspaper of Pakistan.Despite working with the major English language newspapers in Karachi, he also contributed a lion? share in the Urdu language magazines.
Farman Ali was born on June 7, 1960, in Gilgit Shimshal, a far-flung village in Gojal, the Northern Areas of Pakistan. After primary school in his native village, he moved to Gulmit, the Tehsil Headquarter and then to Karachi, the financial capital of Pakistan.

Abdul Haq
Major Abdul Haq hails from a renowned family of Punial.He participated in war of independence in Kashmir as a student after the war he joined Pakistan Army and became first commisioned officer from Ghizer.He participated in 1965 indo pak *war and won Tumgha e basalat .He left army after 1975 war and never accepted the surrender .He then took social welfare projects in his native town Gullapur.
Mir Tazeem Akhtar
is a famous personality among the students of Gilgit. He had struggled and made efforts for the welfare and the rights of students of NAs being chairman NACSO.nowadays he is working as a Director Finance in karakuram international university Gilgit. he took an active part in establishing university .
